5 creative New Year’s resolutions from Belclaire

Join the gym, eat healthier, get organized. Sound familiar? Mix things up this year with some new and creative New Year’s resolutions from Belclaire Homes. Here are a few ideas from our Belclaire team members:

Discover new hobbies: Make 2022 the year that you try a new sport or take an art class. Learn to knit or embroider. Try candle-making, soap-making or writing poetry. Make a family birdwatching or wildlife-watching log. Or enjoy an afternoon kayaking or paddle boarding. Hit up the hike and bike trails in you American Legend community but this time strap on some inline skates! The list of options is endless!

Do something nice for someone every day: Many resolutions focus on self-improvement through diet, exercise or career changes. Take your focus outward this year and focus on others. Make an effort to do something nice for someone else every day: check on an elderly neighbor and offer to run an errand for them, play someone a compliment, donate blood or mow a neighbor’s lawn. 

Get some art in your life: Add some color to 2022 with family trips to museums and community theaters. Art sparks creativity and research shows that people who incorporate it into their daily lives are less likely to develop symptoms of depression! Make a scrapbook with your admission tickets and review it at the end of the year with the whole family.

Try a new food each week: Kids can be picky eaters but making a challenge of trying new foods can make it fun! Hit the produce aisle and try exotic fruit like dragon fruit, lychees, kiwi and plaintains. Explore the foreign food aisles at your local grocery store and pick out items you’ve never tried before. Display the items creatively on your American Legend kitchen island and make a fun game of trying new things!

Volunteer as a family: Community organizations always needs volunteers and many allow families to volunteer together.
