The sun is out and it’s time for some summer fun! In a Belclaire home, it’s easy to create a fun and active environment in your very own backyard. The blog at Mom Endeavors directed us to a few great DIY ideas to share with our readers.
Here are our favorites:
For this activity, you’ll need some rounded river rocks, colorful paint, paint brushes and a wood round (or something for your board). Instead of Xs and Os, you can get creative with insect-inspired stones by painting bumblebees and ladybugs! Then, simply paint your tic-tac-toe board on the wood round, allow the paint to dry and let the fun begin!
Easy Beanbag Toss
This fun and easy game can be made in minutes! Just upcycle those leftover paper or plastic plates from one of your summer BBQs, use a permanent marker to wrote points one the plates (for example, 10, 20, 30, etc.), find some bean bags and you have an instant, competitive game!
This game is a bit more labor intensive to put together but it will worth it for the word lovers out there! You’ll need 144 “tiles” for your letters. They’ll need to have some weight so they don’t fly away in a gust of wind, so you can either cut them out of a larger piece of wood, or purchase precut wooden squares. Next, you’ll need to paint your letters. Here is the breakdown of how many tiles you’ll need for each letter.
2: J, K, Q, X, Z
3: B, C, F, H, M, P, V, W, Y
6: D, S, U
9: T, R
Once your paint dries, you’re ready to play! These tiles can also be used to play other popular word games.
